“Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
Can a man be profitable unto God? Surely he that is wise is profitable unto himself.
“Can a vigorous man be of use to God, Or a wise man be useful to himself?
Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he that is wise is profitable to himself.

Can a man be of any use to God? Can even a wise man be of use to him?
Can a human being be useful to God? Can an intelligent person bring profit?
“Can a human be of advantage to God? Can even the wisest benefit him?
What use are we humans to God, even the wisest of us?
Can a man be profitable to God? surely it is unto himself that the wise man is profitable.
Can man be compared with God, even though he were of perfect knowledge?
“Does God need our help? Even the wisest of us is not really useful to him.
‘Nothing that a man can do will help God. Even a wise man cannot help God.
Can a man benefit God? Can even a wise man be of any use to him?
“Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.
“Can a man be profitable to God? Surely he who is wise is profitable to himself.
“Can anyone ·be of real use to [benefit] God? Can even a ·wise [skilled] person ·do him good [benefit him]?
May a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable to himself?
“Can a human be of any use to God when even a wise person is only useful to himself?
Is there anyone, even the wisest, who could ever be of use to God?
Can a man be of any use to God? Can even a wise man be of use to Him?
“A man cannot be of any real use to God. Even a wise man does him no good.
“Can a human being be useful to God, since he, who is wise, is sufficient to himself?
Can a man be profitable unto God? For he that is wise is profitable unto himself.
Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
Can a man be profitable unto God, as he that is wise may be profitable unto himself?
“Can a mighty man be of use to God, Or an insightful man be useful to himself?
“Can a man be of use to God? Yes, can the wise be of use to him?
“Is mere man of any worth to God? Even the wisest is of value only to himself!
Once again Eliphaz the Temanite took up his theme: “Are any of us strong enough to give God a hand, or smart enough to give him advice? So what if you were righteous—would God Almighty even notice? Even if you gave a perfect performance, do you think he’d applaud? Do you think it’s because he cares about your purity that he’s disciplining you, putting you on the spot? Hardly! It’s because you’re a first-class moral failure, because there’s no end to your sins. When people came to you for help, you took the shirts off their backs, exploited their helplessness. You wouldn’t so much as give a drink to the thirsty, or food, not even a scrap, to the hungry. And there you sat, strong and honored by everyone, surrounded by immense wealth! You turned poor widows away from your door; heartless, you crushed orphans. Now you’re the one trapped in terror, paralyzed by fear. Suddenly the tables have turned! How do you like living in the dark, sightless, up to your neck in flood waters?

“Can a human be of any use to El when even a wise person is only useful to himself?

“Can a strong man be of use to God, Or a wise one be useful to himself?

“Can anyone be of the slightest interest to God, even if that person is recognized for his wisdom?
“Can anyone be of real use to God? Can even a wise person do him good?
“Is it to God that a strong man is of benefit? Is it to him that even a wise man is profitable?
“Can any person be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person be of any help to him?
“Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person benefit him?
‘Can a man be of benefit to God? Can even a wise person benefit him?
“Can a man be profitable to God, Though he who is wise may be profitable to himself?
“Can a man be of use to God? Can a wise man be of use to himself?
“Can a person do anything to help God? Can even a wise person be helpful to him?
‘Can a mortal be of use to God? Can even the wisest be of service to him?
‘Can a mortal be of use to God? Can even the wisest be of service to him?

Can a gever be profitable unto El, as he that has seichel may be profitable unto himself?

“Can a man be useful to God? Can even a wise man benefit Him?
Eliphaz: Can a strong person be of any use to God? How about one who is wise? Can he help himself?

Whether a man, yea, (even) when he is of perfect knowing, may be comparisoned to God?
To God is a man profitable, Because a wise man to himself is profitable?
